To see in Rome
1.Colosseo, Foro Romano and Palatino
The cost of the ticket is 16€ (www.parcocolosseo.it) and you can visit the interior of the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine.
For free you can only see it from the outside, but I recommend a tour inside the monuments
2. Piazza Venezia and Altare della Patria
After visiting the Colosseum, continue along Via dei Fori Imperiali, where you can admire the Tariano Market on the right, and the Imperial Forums on the left. Once you arrive in Piazza Venezia, you will find The Altar of the Fatherland, which can be visited for free. There is a fee for access to a panoramic terrace inside the monument with a ticket for the price of 7€, and a visit to the museum of the resurgence at the price of 5€

in front of the Altare della Patria in Piazza Venezia, you can walk along Via Del Corso, the famous shopping street. After a few minutes you will also cross Via Condotti, the famous shopping street of extra luxury.
5. Villa Borghese
is the largest and most famous villa in Rome, inside you can find the city zoo and I recommend you to rent a bike inside the park to visit it all by bike. From there you can reach Piazza del Popolo, which is opposite the entrance of the Villa.

continuing along Via del Corso you will find the famous Piazza del Popolo, and going back, taking Via del Babbuino, you will arrive at the famous Piazza Venezia, where you can admire the fountain with the famous staircase of Trinità dei Monti

In the historic center you must also visit the Pantheon, the oldest church in the world, and you can visit it for free, but beware of the long line that is usually at the entrance
8. Piazza Navona
from the Pantheon in a few minutes walk you can reach the famous Piazza Navona

is located on the Tiber River, and is worth a visit at least from the outside, although I recommend you take the ticket and visit it inside (www.castelsantangelo.beniculturali.it price about 12€)
10. Basilica di San Pietro, Vaticano and Musei Vaticani
Dedicate at least one day to visit Saint Peter’s Basilica, the visit to the Church can be free, but you must pay an entrance ticket to visit the Vatican museums (www.tickets.museivaticani.va)

it can be very risky to put even one foot in the fountain, in fact you risk a fine up to 500€
